The following are excerpts from letters received from recent visitors:

My wife Sally and I wanted to thank you and the staff at Dalton Ranch for your generous hospitality during our golf outing on September 23.

We signed up to play your course expecting to find a "subdivision course", one designed primarily to accommodate lot and house sales with golf course architecture a secondary consideration. Instead, we found one of the finest golf courses either of us has played in a long time. To put that in context, our home course, designed by Tom Fazio, is ranked 5th in the state of Virginia. In our travels we have played Pebble Beach, the "Teeth of the Dog" at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic, Shinnecock, Pinehurst #2 and many other nationally ranked courses. Additionally I have played Pine Valley. I can state without reservation that the course at Dalton Ranch ranks right up there with the very best.

Ken Dye has designed and built a course not only of great beauty, but of considerable excitement. I hit every club in my bag in the course of 18 holes. With par 4’s ranging from 308 yards to 479 yards, and par 3’s from 158 to 225 yards, what else would on expect. If the hole was 308 yards, precision was demanded off the tee. (The 308 yard 17th reminded me a great deal of the 18th at Pebble Beach, if shortened to a par 4). If 479 yards, the landing area was more forgiving, but the second shot demanded not only length but precision. The par 5’s were spectacular for their settings and required shot making and presented excellent risk-reward opportunities. In short, every hole was unique and well thought out.

The fairways were lush, yet tight, the greens mature and well maintained. The setting along the Animas River unequalled. Yours is a golf course designed and built with the greatness of the game in mind. There were no disappointments on that day, with the possible exceptions of my score. The fact that I loved your golf course and not my score, says a lot about the caliber of your layout.

Recently my wife and I played golf at your course and had a great time. From the people in the clubhouse to the employees in the restaurant, your course is a class act.
